Your Local Equi’s – Candy Land Whitburn
Imagine a shop where the walls are lined with all of your favourite childhood sweets – bon bons, kola cubes and more chewy toffees and caramels than you know what to do with. Now add warm cookie dough, amazing cheesecake, Tango Ice Blasts and of course, some pretty awesome ice cream (if we do say so ourselves…). If this sounds like your idea of heaven, then you’ll need to stop by Candy Land. What started off as a small shop in the heart of Whitburn has quickly turned into the go-to place for all things sweet in West Lothian (they’ve also just been nominated for Scottish Business Award!) and Equi’s Ice Cream have been lucky enough to be part of their journey.
Candy Land opened 18 months ago when the McLeod family noticed that there was a gap in the market for a shop that focused solely on desserts and sweet treats. Mrs McLeod wanted to open a shop that would offer tasty treats at affordable prices and she did just that. Fast forward a year and a half and Candy Land has grown to the go-to place in Whitburn and the surrounding areas – in fact people have been known to come from as far as Edinburgh for their legendary treats!
Since their menu is so varied the guys in the shop told me that it was hard for them to pick just one item that their customers go crazy for but they would definitely recommend their warm waffles or cookie dough with any of our chocolate bar ice cream (Dime and Ferrero Rocher ice cream were firm favourites).
